FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of tattooing, where hairlike strokes are tattooed into the skin using a hand tool to mimic your natural eyebrow hairs, different than traditional eyebrow tattooing where an electric machine is used to tattoo an eyebrow shape using an electric machine.

Does it hurt?

Pain tolerance varies for every client, however topical anesthics are used to maximize your comfort during the procedure. Please note that receiving the procedure during your menstrual cycle may increase your sensitivity.

What can I expect during my procedure?

To create your prefect brows I will look at your face shape, muscle structure, complexion, and hair color, along with any references you may have brought with you. We will work together in deciding what is the best fit for your face, this is the crucial part of the procedure and a lot of time is given to measuring for symmetry and balance with your features. Once the design is established, and we are both 100% satisfied, I will start the tattooing process  which takes 30-60 minutes. After your procedure is done we’ll discuss aftercare and take post-procedure photos. Please have realistic exceptions, I can not predict how you will heal or fade. and it's also not possible to create hairs in the exact same place on each brow, faces aren’t symmetrical.

How long will my cosmetic tattoo last?

Cosmetic tattooing is considerated semi-permanent, pigments are designed to fade over time. Factors like skin type, beauty regimes, lifestyle choices, sun exposure, iron deficiency, and pigment color (lighter colors fade faster) can affect the rate the pigment is broken down. To achieve the best results possible, I recommended that you follow my aftercare instructions and touch up your brows every 9-24 months. Microblading requires a minimum of two sessions, and touch ups are normal and expected. Please note that final results can not be guaranteed, as everyone retains and breaks down pigment differently. Clients with lighter hair, correction work or sparse brows may require more than one follow-up to achieve their desired look at an additional cost.

What factors affect cosmetic tattoos?

  • Pigment color: lighter tones fade quicker than darker tones.
  • Sun exposure: increased sun exposure will cause premature fading.
  • Bleeding: excessive bleeding during the procedure will affect how your skin retains pigment. It's important to follow prep instructions- including but not limited to avoiding alcohol, blood thinning medications, and caffeine before your procedure.
  • Smoking: some smokers make notice that their eyebrows will fade quicker.

What if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

I will not tattoo you. For many reasons, here are few:

  • Your immune system is lowered, meaning it takes forever to heal.
  • Your hormones can cause skin conditions like hyperpigmentation.
  • If you get an infection, you could pass it to your baby.
  • Your skin may become more sensitive.
  • Higher chances of fainting.
  • Your blood volume raises an average of 25%, this means heavy bleeding.

Do I need a consultation before booking an appointment?

Consultations are free of charge to anyone who would like to discuss their eyebrows before booking an appointment, but not required. Consultations are required if you are in need of corrective work, or have had your brows done by someone else. If you book an appointment without disclosing previous work your deposit will be forfeited and your appointment cancelled.

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be made by email. In your email please specify your preferred days or dates so we can get the ball rolling quicker. I’m currently taking appointments Tuesday-Saturday every week. Saturday appointments generally fill up quickly, so if your schedule is more flexible you can normally find an appointment sooner during the week. A deposit of $100 is required to book your appointment.
